He was born on October 16, 1965 in the village of Svessa, Yampil district, Sumy region. After graduating from the pediatric faculty of the Kharkiv Medical Institute in 1989, he worked as a pediatric orthopedic traumatologist at the Sumy Regional Children’s Clinical Hospital.
He has been working at SSU since 2005.
Candidate of Medical Sciences since 2005. He defended the dissertation “Youth epiphyseolysis of the femoral head. The issues of etiology, pathogenesis, diagnosis and treatment”in the specialized scientific council of the Institute of Spine and Joint Pathology named after prof. M.I. Sytenko. The dissertation advisor is Doctor of Medicine, professor Shevchenko S.D.
Doctor of Medical Sciences since 2013. He defended his dissertation “Clinical and organizational principles of treatment of children with multiple organs and polysystemic injuries at the pre-hospital stage of medical care” in the specialized scientific council of Donetsk National Medical University named after M. Gorky, Ministry of Health of Ukraine. The dissertation advisor is Doctor of Medicine, professor Guryev S.O.
In 2018 he received the academic title of professor. The head of the Department of Emergency Medical Care and Disaster Medicinesince 2020.
Professor Y.V. Shkatula is the author of 120 scientific works and 4 textbooks.
